KUŞADASI – Turkish Daily News
The harbor, being run by Kuşadası Aegean Port Management Corporate Trust (Ege Ports), is expected to attain passenger traffic of 700 ships this year due to of the rise in passenger traffic.
Kuşadası Harbor's new season will get underway on March 8 when the ship AQUA Marine sailing under a Greek flag anchors at the port. It's estimated that some 700,000 passengers will come to the district this season.
On the other hand with the increasing ship traffic, the need for a new wharf has come on the agenda. The construction of a third wharf and the development of existing wharfs' capacity are the priorities for better service at the port.
“The expected ship and passenger numbers this year will surpass the record level of 2007,” said Aziz Güngör, Aegean Ports general manager.
“Ege Ports has been declared as the best port providing secure service by the most significant cruise tourism organization Cruise Line International Association (CLIA). After the privatization of Kuşadası Port in 2003, there have been many upgrades and improved practices and we have brought port service to full capacity,” he added.
