“The bazaar will bring together producers and consumers,” said local governor Hüseyin Fırat. “Our ecological products have attracted great interest and we decided to open Turkey's first ecologic and traditional village products bazaar. The village's former name, Küplüce, has been registered as the trademark of the village's products. We also decided to pack the products ourselves and established a packaging atelier. Within the project, local women have received training in packaging. They will pack their own products in our fully equipped atelier and present them to consumers,” he said, noting that only products from the village would be sold at the bazaar.

Economic freedom for women

  Fırat noted that local women would produce goods for the bazaar just like they produce for their family, and said their goal was to be a model for other villages and villagers. “As well as farmers, local women will be able to contribute to their family's income. Our long-term plan is to establish a wholesale store for ecologic products,” he added.

  Fırat said every kind of ecologic vegetables and fruits would be sold in the bazaar, to take place every Sunday in Kirazlı village, 10 kilometers from Kuşadası. “We are expecting those who are interested in healthy and delicious products to visit our bazaar.”

  Meanwhile, the Cherry Festival, which is a 50-year tradition of the village, will take place on June 1. A series of events will be held during the festival.
